Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the accuracy of the revised new standard criteria as compared with the new standard criteria in evaluating the quality of mammographic images.

Materials and Methods: A total of 72 mammograms were examined following subjective assessment (pass or fail), the revised new standard criteria with strict guideline, and the new standard criteria for clinical image evaluation, by 7 breast radiologists. The guideline of mammograms for pass is over 60 points out of total 100 points.

Results: Thirty one mammograms (43%) of total 72 mammograms failed in the evaluation following subjective assessment. The average 16 (22%) mammograms failed in the evaluation following the new standard criteria. The average 21 (30%) mammograms failed in the evaluation following the revised new standard criteria. Sensitivity about failure in the evaluation of clinical images following the revised new standard criteria is 60% and is higher than that (42%) of the new standard criteria. Specificity about pass in the evaluation of clinical images following the revised new standard criteria is 93% and is similar to that (92%) of the new standard criteria.

Conclusion: The revised new standard criteria is more accurate and useful in evaluating the quality of mammographic images, as compared with the new standard criteria.
